Home Designs That Make Life Anything But Easier
Do you ever look at a design and wonder what they could have been thinking? Usually, you're then able to remove yourself from the situation and go home to your carefully curated home. However, what would you do if those terrible design fails followed you home and suddenly you were stuck using a toilet in the closet?
It's A Long Way Down
This is technically a fire escape, but given that it's made of wood, you could definitely count on it catching on fire too, leaving you with no option but to jump down in a leap of faith.
Keeping Daily Life Exciting
It's no secret that routine can make life feel a bit stale. With stairs like these, you're adding a daily challenge to your life. You never know if you'll actually even make it down the stairs safely or not. Something to keep you on your toes.
Not A Seat For The Faint Of Heart
If you're afraid of spiders, snakes, and scorpions, then this seat definitely isn't for you. Yet if you live somewhere like Australia, you might as well embrace it and become one with the scorpions.
Someone Could Use A Refresher On Geometry
Although it wouldn't be impossible to still find the way down, these triangle pieces are clearly not meant to create style but to fit in the corners of the staircase.
State Of The Art Security System
How secure would you truly feel if you spent hundreds of dollars on an alarm system and your security gate actually ended up being a ladder that leads right into your home?
Don't Get These Tiles Wet
This is an accident waiting to happen. Not only are you at risk of stepping out unto nothing and rolling down the stairs, but even if you're extra careful and the tiles are wet, you're guaranteed to slip onto the wooden staircase.
Make Using Of Every Corner
Look at this under-the-stairs "bathroom" where the toilet is diagonal and partially installed into the carpeted wall. We understand not wanting to waste any space, but literally placing anything but a toilet here would have worked better.
Squeez Your Way In
It doesn't look like you'd even be able to walk towards the toilet without walking sideways. You might have just enough space to sit with your whole body squeezed in if you could even make it down the hall without getting stuck.
Decor Over Safety
Clearly, whoever envisioned this design only took in the aesthetics of it and completely ignored the functionality. Would you rather have a mix of plants, shoes, and books tucked in between your staircase for a near-death experience every time you use them? Or would you just like a way to go up and down?
A Conversation Piece
We present to you this modern art piece titled "The Exploding dish chandelier." It's a great conversation starter. Guests might ask questions like, "how secure is this chandelier?" and "what are the odds of a piece of broken china falling and slicing my skin at any second?"
The Bathroom That Never Dries
Bathrooms usually have tiled floors so that you can dry them easily after a shower. Can you imagine how long it would take for the bathroom to try when even the walls and the ceiling are made out of carpet?
A Bed To Always Make You Feel Hungry
It's hard enough fighting cravings for midnight snacks and greasy food before bed. If the last thing you look at every night and the first thing you look at every morning is a burger, imagine how hungry you would always feel.
The Reason A Dentist Visit Is Scary
No one likes going to the dentist as it is. You don't want more reasons to hate it by being seated in a waiting room that looks like the inside of a mouth that's about to eat you alive.
A Life-Size Statue Companion
Understandably, art can get a little pricey, but does this life-sized horse lamp feel like it was worth the $6,500 price tag? If you have more money than you know what to do with, then why not...?
The Water Pressure Isn't Lacking
It's like this shower designed to be as hard to stand in as possible. Not only is the water pressure enough to knock someone down, but balancing on that rock to stand under it is a whole other game.
A Free Show For All
"This is the room my friend and I got in Cuba. The shower wall was a window & you could see into the entire bathroom.. even the toilet."
You can't judge what some people are into...
A Closeted Secret
It's okay, we're humans with bodily functions that need to be released in a toilet sometimes. It's not a secret you need to come out of the closet for, or even need to put in a closet in the first place.
It's Called Multitasking
Why have a bath and then eat breakfast when you could just do both at the same time? It's unclear if adding walls was simply too expensive or if this was a stylistic choice.
Would You Like To Play A Game?
We'd recommend experimenting with these shower knobs before you get into the shower. You might think you're turning on the hot water knob and suddenly faint from hypothermia.
It's also unclear what the functions of so many knobs could possibly be.
An Open-Concept Design
"Booked a hotel in Orlando through Hotwire and they gave us this room. No partition between the shower, bathtub, and bed. I'm traveling with my teenage daughter....."
We don't think this is what open concept designs had in mind...
A Bath With A View
Unless you're taking a bath in your bathing suit, you could get arrested for public indecency simply for trying to take a bath. We all want a bath with a view, but maybe a little privacy to go along with it would be nice.
Feel Like Royalty On The Toilet
This toilet is placed on stage right in the center of this red marble bathroom to make you feel like the king of all toilets the next time you go to take a royal dump.
Making It Work
Well, as long as you can still fully open the fridge doors, this is actually a creative solution to the lack of space. It looks horrifying, but if it works, it works.
A Slight Obsession
Have you ever had such a big collection that you didn't know where to store it anymore? Clearly, you didn't think outside of the box enough...you could have been walking all over it.
There's Just...A Lot Happening Here
Perhaps individually, each piece wouldn't be so bad, but between the bleeding face, the golden swinging monkey, the bedazzled shelves with statues, and the chrome walls, your eyes would eventually get sore.
Where's The Refrigerator?
Like a game of Where's Waldo, upon entering this home, you play a game of "find the fridge" never suspecting that it would be hidden inside a random wall that doesn't even divide the room.
Did Someone Say Pink?
Some people truly can't help their obsession with pink. As much as this is painful on the eyes, we must give them credit that it at least looks like a professional job.
A Two For One Deal
You'll get a butt massage (and possibly a scratch or a cut) while sitting down on this pebbled toilet all while doing your business.
Imagine having to scrub that to clean it, though...
Bring The Diner Home
It would just feel weird to use this bathroom for its purpose without feeling the need to be sipping on a milkshake while looking for a song to play on the jukebox.
A Possible Door To Narnia
This home came with a closet hidden on the upper floor, six feet above the ground with no stairs to get to it. Why? Just like with most designs on this list, nobody knows...
