Most of us don't consider motorhomes to be too crazy, at least at first. However, there have been some crazy RVs developed throughout the decades.
Anything from a spaceship-like amphibious vehicle, all the way to simply adding a roof box to a Swedish sedan. These are the craziest motorhomes and RVs ever made.
GM Futurliner
The Futurliner was a series of crazy art-deco motor homes designed in the late 30s. Today, Futurliners have become highly sought-after by collectors worldwide. Only 12 units were made in total. It is estimated that only 9 of them still exist to this day.
The original Futurliner came powered by a four-cylinder diesel powerplant, though GM decided to replace it with a 6-cylinder gas motor by the early 50s.
Carling Home Sport Louvet No. 3
Roughly a century ago, motorhomes were nowhere near as popular as they are today. As a result, inventors around the world came up with some pretty clever RV concepts. Charles Louvet was one of them.
The Carling Home Sport Louvet No. 3 was his most popular creation. This streamlined motor home was designed to be easier to maneuver than its predecessor, which was over 30 feet long! The triangular windows along with the canoe installed on the roof are perhaps the most distinctive features of this innovative RV.

This could very well be one of the coolest custom motor homes in existence. The Atomic Camper may not be the most spacious trailer in the world. In fact, it measures just 16 feet in length.
