Quarantine's a strange time. One day a person is totally normal, and the next, they're staring into the mirror wondering why on earth they thought shaving one side of their head, dying the other half magenta, and adding some bangs was a good idea.
While these people might regret their DIY beauty salon attempts, these cringe-worthy beauty fails are a great reminder of why kitchen haircuts and quarantine makeovers aren't the best ideas.
The Moment Someone Bumps Your Elbow
This poor guy. His quarantine haircut was actually going so well until someone ran around the corner, bumped his elbow, and the razor decided to have some fun on its own. At least, that's what looks like happened with this little mishap.
Pro tip: when giving yourself a haircut, make sure you're home alone or else become this man with his vastly uneven hairline that will take nothing less than an overall buzzcut to fix.
Gloves? Never Heard Of Them
Quarantine is a weird time. People are bored, and at-home hair dying kits quickly became all the rage. The thing is, when using hair dye, it's a superb idea to use the gloves that are given to you in the box.
Otherwise, (see exhibit A), dyed hands will stay that way for weeks to come. So, let's all take a little lesson from this person and not dye our hands the color of our quarantine hair. It looks like a printer exploded. Sigh.
Well, You Really Did It This Time
For a lot of people, the infamous bang fail was one of the first mistakes of quarantine. Either they come out too short, too narrow, or, in this lady's case, completely uneven and way beyond fixing.
Her face says it all, "girl; you really messed up this time." Nothing short of pinning those wispy uneven bangs back with a pin a la early-2000s poof or getting a professional in there to do damage control is going to fix that fail.
At This Point, Just Cut Them
You have to... wait for it, hand it to this person for going so long without cutting her acrylic nails. Obviously, the time to trim those claws back has way since passed.
But it's quarantine, so, really, anything goes. Even if that thing just so happens to be a weird Edward Scissorhands-meets-My Little Pony fingernail nightmare. Seriously, was anyone going to tell her the lavender and star combo was a bad idea, not to mention the over-sized gem on the ring finger?!
Maybe Try One More Layer?
Props to this person for their consistency. She wanted some layers, and, folks, that is exactly what her at-home hairstylist gave her. Too bad the hairstylist in question was most likely her mom or roommate, who has little to no experience cutting hair, let alone styling it!
At this point, just grab those kitchen scissors and cut everything underneath that uppermost layer off. Either that or maybe go for one more layer. Who knows, maybe one more will fix the problem.
Acrylic Nail Fail...But Do You See The Ring?
Before starting on this horrible beauty fail, let's just put on the record that while her nails might be messed up, we did notice that she made sure to have her ring in the picture. Raise of hands, who thinks this lady was recently engaged?
Why else would she post a picture of her quarantine acrylic nail fail if not to for the sole reason to show off her new rock? We see you, girl, and we approve.
The Tan Line? It's Called Edge
To start, it was very nice of this man's family to help him in his time of need. Like, we get it, quarantine is a weird time, and people need haircuts. The thing is, this man needed to bite the bullet and tell them to shave his entire head.
We know, we know, the tan line and bowl cut combination is definitely a fashion statement. But that statement shouldn't be seen outside of the household!
No Choice But To Smile Through This Bad Haircut
The thing here is that this guy was kind of sort of on to something when he opted to do a quarantine bathroom haircut. His little combover isn't horrible, even though he could have eased up on the razor a bit near his hairline.
But the real question here is how in the world did he butcher the back of his head so badly? Clearly, there is a mirror in his presence! At least he can smile about it.
It's Not A Phase, Mom...
Nothing says, "I made a huge mistake," quite like going all in and shaving your head during quarantine just to realize halfway through that the razor's battery is dead. Well, the good news is this guy has nowhere to go or anyone to see in the foreseeable future.
All he has to do is wait for the battery to recharge! Bold move starting the process from the front, though. Then again, this entire process was questionable from the get-go.
Pro Tip: Garden Shears Aren't Good For Haircuts
According to this man's Reddit thread, his wife was just trying to do him a favor since the barbershop closed during the quarantine. It was very nice of her to take up the responsibility of cutting her husband's hair. You know, which he has to see every day.
The thing is, it looks like she used garden shears instead of a razor. Those patches are something else! Hopefully, he decided to shave the rest off, so it's at least even.
Tried To Wax, Was Left With A Burnt Stache
Depending on what is being waxed, going to a professional is something that tends to happen every few weeks. But when quarantine hit and salons shut their doors, people took measures into their not-so-qualified hands.
This poor lady, for example, was fed up with the hair on her upper lip. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like she thought to test the wax's temperature before applying it to her skin. This, folks, is what's called a rookie mistake.
At Least He Has Pizza...
This man must not have seen the back of his head yet, since he seems relatively calm and enjoying a slice of pizza. Or maybe it's the pizza that's keeping him so calm? Either way, holy quarantine beauty fail, Batman!
Not only is the back of his head a total patchwork, but there is no possible way to fix it other than taking a razor to his head and getting rid of his hair entirely. Maybe grab another slice before jumping into another DIY salon day, though.
Doing At-Home Acrylics Didn't End Well
Can we all take a moment and applaud nail salons because it's clear that putting acrylic nails on isn't as easy as they make it look. Honestly, this person didn't do a horrible job, but it's nothing she probably wants to go out in public with.
At least she thought to take a picture with her messed up nails with a nice can of Sprite. There's nothing a cool can of Sprite can't fix. Well, aside from actually fixing her nails. But her mood's probably improved!
Is It A Fade? Is It A Buzzcut? Is It A New Style? Who Knows
According to this man's Reddit post, he just wanted to do something nice for his wife's birthday. Unfortunately for him, that required him to go through a DIY haircut during quarantine because the salon was closed.
Ironically, it was his wife that gave him this hybrid fade and buzzcut combination. Needless to say, we'd bet money that the wife reconsidered her birthday gift the moment she put the buzzer on his head.
When A Ruler Might Have Been Ideal
The thing with this haircut fail is that the girl was definitely overconfident in her abilities. The cut starts off okay, or at least it looks like it does, but then it takes a turn for the worst and goes completely uneven and crooked.
Honestly, being a fly on the wall during this procedure would have been fantastic. Was she just screaming "Jesus, take the scissors" the entire time? Carrie Underwood would be proud. Maybe. Probably not.
Just Put The Hat Back On
This poor man got swept up in the quarantine haircut game, going for the good old-fashioned bowl cut. Unfortunately, it didn't go as planned. Or maybe it did; who are we to say? The one thing we know for sure is that he went a bit too far with the shaving.
Unless he wanted the bowl to stand at attention. In that case, he did a great job! Personally, we say put that hat back on and leave it on until he can make it to an actual hairdresser.
The Fade Didn't Go As Planned
Sorry, friend, but you are not Thomas Shelby in Peaky Blinders. If you were, this fade would have gone in a completely different direction. Of course, that direction is good and not something that's done in the kitchen with a razor and a pair of kitchen scissors.
It was a valiant effort over a time when it wasn't an option to get a professional haircut. Even so, maybe think about just shaving it all off.
His Last Care Went Out The Window
It's safe to say that quarantine most definitely got to this person's head. Seclusion can do things to people! In this case, it had him grab two boxes of hair dye, some scissors, and a razor.
And, honestly, when those three things are put in the hands of a non-professional, things are going to go just about as good as this result! Anyone else thinks he has a Bozo the Clown thing going on?
Take Notes, Never Let Your Friend Touch Your Hair
Whatever this guy was thinking, don't think the same way. Because with the way his quarantine hair turned out, a lot of money is going on betting that he wasn't really thinking and just handed his roommate or family member a pair of scissors and said, "have at it."
Rule number one of quarantine, if you're going to make a drastic move and cut your own hair, take full responsibility! Poor thing; he probably didn't know what he was in for.
This Bob Took A Wrong Turn
Not that bobs with the strange longer layers in front are a great look, to begin with, but when everything is uneven and not in the edgy asymmetrical way, it's just not cute. The thing is, this poor lady wasn't doing too bad.
She had an image in her head, and she just went for it. Unfortunately, going for it resulted in a butchered back, uneven sides, and a weird undercut that has no business being there.
