The Funniest Posters And Signs Spotted Out On The Street
If you've lost a pet, if you've found something, or if you need to advertise a service to your neighbors, hanging a sign or poster out on the street can be a terrific way to get your message out there. Even though most people have internet access, a street poster is going to reach some folks that you just couldn't target online. Here are some amazingly funny and clever street posters that people have hung up around their neighborhoods, some real and some just for fun. Take a look and try not to smile at these.
Do. Not. Underestimate. Him.
This isn't a combo you see on a poster every day. It's rare just to see a missing turtle sign, but this particular pet is also missing his... nunchucks. LOL. Don't underestimate the little guy just because turtles tend to be slow, though.
"APPEARS SLOW BUT IS VERY DANGEROUS! Will come home eventually but evil-doers beware." This is a clever and cute way to get people to pay attention to your poster and be on the lookout for your Ninja Turtle.
Be A Trendsetter
This street poster might have been designed by someone who's just a little bit tired of social media and all the "liking" involved whenever a contact posts the lamest little thing.
A sign saying "Be the first of your friends to like this post," with a row of thumbs-up emojis printed on the tear slips, is a pretty hilarious way to protest Facebook and all the other time-sucking social sites out there.
Putting Hope Out There
This funny sign has a sweet side. The person who made this street sign wasn't trying to sell anything or locate a lost pet or item. Instead, they're just trying to give people slips of paper saying "yes" that worried folks "can hang onto during the tough times ahead... maybe it will help."
We're surprised there haven't been more takers yet -- we'd hang one up on the fridge! It certainly couldn't hurt anything.
Bird Of Terror
This epic "found" poster has a level of detail that you don't frequently see on the street. Someone claims that they found a bird (which is just a street pigeon) and describes all the effort they've supposedly gone to in order to help it.
"No nametag. Yelled every name at it, doesn't respond to any." The poster-maker then goes on to say that the bird has been terrorizing their daughter and dogs. And even includes a photo of the supposed daughter. This one is brilliant and surely brought some laughs to the neighborhood!
He's Trying To Quit!
From the looks of it, the person who lives here must be pretty tired of having people flick their nasty cigarette butts into their prized flower garden. They've even resorted to getting the family cat involved in the anti-litter campaign.
Even the biggest litterbug in the world isn't going to want to encourage the cute cat's smoking habit! Please help him out by eliminating temptation. Together, we can support this cat.
Have You Seen Steve?
Uh oh, someone's imaginary friend Steve is missing. Have you seen him in any of his favorite hangouts (discount sushi bars and polka raves)? If not, please be on the lookout for the guy you see in the picture.
Thank goodness the poster clarified that the pic was taken three years ago, or we might not have recognized Steve. A person can change a lot in that amount of time, after all.
So 'Tearable' That We Couldn't Help But Laugh
We're going out on a limb here and guessing that maybe a dad is responsible for this poster. This is as "dad jokes" as a street sign can get. In big all-caps lettering, it says "THESE ARE TEARABLE PUNS." And that's not even the biggest groaner.
Every one of the tear-off slips has an equally silly pun on it, like, "If a clock gets hungry it goes back for seconds" and "Acupuncture is a jab well done."
The Ole Dog-For-Music-Lessons Swap
This looks like your standard "Missing" poster at first glance, but if you spend a little more time on it and scroll your eyes down you'll see this is a very different kind of advertisement. The person says they'll reward someone with a dog, in exchange for "trobmone" lessons.
And in smaller print: "Need to impress my wife... she said I am failing her." Buddy, we have a feeling that serenading your wife with the overpowering sound of a trombone isn't going to help anyone at this point. Keep your cute dog and move on.
Like Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Anyone who stopped to actually read this complicated-looking poster was in for a real treat. It looks like it could be any old sign for a lost or stolen bike, but the victim here went a lot farther with their message.
Not only did they draw their missing bike "from memory," but had this to say to the thief: "I just made these flyers to tell you that I hate you, bike thief. I hope you ride my bike without a helmet and get hit by a monster truck." Ouch. We really hope they somehow got this awesome-looking bike back after this effort!
Crazy Klaus
We humans always love a good dog shaming photo, and this street poster nails it. "My dog Klaus is lost and very, very crazy, " it says. "He is off his medication which helps to decrease his hostility...If you see Klaus, do not make eye contact. He will rip your face off."
Clearly, this person just snapped an epic photo of their dog Klaus and wanted to use it in the funniest way possible. Which in this case is using it in a fake lost dog poster and plastering it around the neighborhood.
Hope There's A Big Discount!
This poster features a super grainy photo of something here and you can barely make out the words... "Printer for sale. Works terribly."
OK, we love this. What else are you going to do with a printer that's on its last legs but make a funny street poster with it? They even tore off all the contact slips at the bottom to make it look like everyone in the neighborhood is interested in buying the decrepit printer.
Nooooo, Not The DMV!
This could be the most effective "lost wallet" poster ever. Anyone who's ever been to the DMV will relate to this person who is absolutely begging for their wallet back. "*Please* don't make me go back to the DMV. It's an evil place."
We're not sure about evil, but we do know that spending a day in line while waiting for a new driver's license is a punishment that most people don't deserve after losing their wallet. Hopefully, the person who ended up with the wallet saw this and had some compassion for the poster-maker!
"I Will Pay You"
Well, well, well. You never know where a great opportunity will present itself! Here's the chance to hire a "never before heard" singer to perform "original songs about the moon and the stars!"
Oh wait, did we say hire? Sorry, we misread the poster. This artist will actually pay people ($15/hour!) for the chance to sing to them. Just not at a group event, please. This is a one-on-one thing only.
Oh No, There's A Wormhole On The Loose
Here's a good one for all you science geeks. A wormhole is a theoretical tunnel with ends in two different points in space/time. Wormholes are usually seen in sci-fi movies, but some lucky people in this neighborhood got to imagine that there was one lurking around their own city.
"Do not attempt to capture because you'll totally screw with the space / time continuum bro." Oops, according to the hilarious (photoshopped) picture, it's already too late!
The Poster Worked Too Well, Apparently
This person made a humorous sign saying that all of their poster's tear-off paper slips with contact information are "missing" and that they would like them returned, please.
There's a detailed description of the eight missing strips and a sketch showing what each piece of paper looks like. The poster-maker even mentions that they're leaving tape so that people can re-attach the strips they've taken off the poster. We wonder how many people got a chuckle out of this sign!
Rubber Band Bandit
This hilarious poster comes to us courtesy of a bulletin board covered in all sorts of notices. But this one is particularly eye-catching since it has a rubber band stapled to it. What could this be about?
"If you lost a stack of $20's wrapped in a rubber band," it says, "...I found your rubber band." Pretty funny to get folks to think you'd actually spent a stack of found cash and are seriously trying to return the rubber band that held it together!
Found: Love In A Hopeless Place
Ooh, how clever. A poster that only Rihanna fans will get at first but anyone can appreciate for its creativity. Showing a guy who appears to be down on his luck, holding his head in his hands, the words "it was back here" appear underneath an arrow pointing behind the column the guy is sitting on.
It's a nod to the Rihanna song "We Found Love," about two people who "found love in a hopeless place" like the spot in the pic. We love it.
Invisible Ninja
Oh, is this a missing person alert? Nope. This poster is simply asking random people on the street whether they've seen the guy in the picture... who just so happens to be a ninja. He's decked out in the full shinobi shōzoku, which is the name of the outfit these stealth spies wear.
The poster goes on to say that you probably haven't seen him. "Because then you would be dead." Obviously.
Persistent Prego Perp
Ah, it's great to see some student shenanigans make their way out into the world of street posters. At least, that's what seems to be going on here. "This man keeps breaking into my dorm and putting bottles of PREGO MARINARA SAUCE under my pillow."
"Why are you doing this? Do you work for Prego?" There are so many unanswered questions, but the victim here has even set up a website with footage of the Prego perp allegedly putting jars of sauce in their bed.
Don't Make It Weird
This isn't so much a "found dog" poster as it is a notice to this pup's former human companion that he's found a new home and not to worry about him.
After all, they didn't even put up any contact information. "Now we are bros, so he's staying. Don't call, don't make it weird." That's pretty cute, we just hope there aren't any broken hearts as a result of this situation!
$50 Prize For The Best Chewie Roar!
We love the creativity behind this awesome contest that some Star Wars fan put on for their neighbors! Not only is this a fun idea, but it's also a socially distanced way to participate in a costume.
Upon further research, however, it appears that some people are using this idea as a way to bombard their friends' voicemails with ridiculous roaring messages from strangers. We like this better as a real contest but it's pretty funny either way.
Google Knows All
It really is kind of frightening just how much Google knows about us, which is what makes this fake "Now hiring!" poster so funny.
Do you want a job with Google? Just think "yes" and they'll take care of the rest, since they already have access to everything they might possibly want to find out about you. Be sure and think of a clever cover letter while you're at it!
A Missed Opportunity
At first glance, you'd probably assume this was a standard missing pet poster. "Have you seen this cat?" with a picture of a kitty is kind of the tip-off.
But wait, there's no description at all. And the paper slips don't have any contact info, just "I have now!" We love this idea so much and think this poster probably made a lot of people laugh. But they totally missed out on a good pun. "I have meow" would have been awesome to put on the paper slips.
Sorry Not Sorry
Just because this one is probably fake doesn't mean it's not hilarious. After all, those creative folks who go out of their way to entertain passersby with funny flyers are great people in our book.
This poster claims that someone found a horse, as in a real live horse, and isn't giving it back because "you should of kept a better eye on it." Maybe this type of thing does happen out in the country, but "finders keepers" isn't the right way to go about a missing pet. Haha.
Where Did They Go?
Some of them are funnier than others, but you just have to appreciate these posters that were made in an effort to amuse people. There's no way you can actually contact this person (since their numbers are missing -- get it?) so they clearly just wanted to share some much-needed smiles with their neighbors.
Thank you, poster-maker, for going out of your way to bring the laughs. Your efforts didn't go unnoticed!
Why Does This Need A Sign?
Someone posted a paper sign that says "please do not lick the walls." You may wonder why this needs to be stated. We do not have an answer for you. But the sign advises that the Regional Health Department says that it is "unsanitary."
Most people don't need a sign telling them not to lick the wall. But it seems that some people have an "urge," as this poster suggests. "If you cannot resist the urge to lick, please try to wipe the wall with your hand, then lick your hand." At least it provides a solution.
Who Wants Free Paper?
Have you ever needed a bit of paper for a phone number, address, or reminder? One person decided to help people out by offering "free strips of paper." Three people have already taken some strips, so clearly they needed it.
If you can't think of how to use the paper, the sign provides some ideas. It lists bookmarks, paper hornets, and even "a healthy snack" as potential uses. Pray that the people who taken paper strips did not eat them. Please don't eat paper.
Find Aaron The Mosquito
You've probably seen lost dog signs, but have you ever seen a lost mosquito? This person's "good mosquito," Aaron, has gone missing. The sign details that Aaron has a love of flying, as all mosquitoes should.
Unlike other lost posters, this one has a time limit. "It is urgent that you return him before his three-day life cycle is up," the sign says. It is unknown if Aaron ever saw his owners again, although it is unlikely. People probably don't want to look for a mosquito that is "carrying West Nile and Malaria."
Give The Octopus Back His Legs
This clever sign features a drawing of an octopus. The paper strips are its legs, and people can pull off the octopus's legs. However, one person did like depriving this octopus of its tentacles.
The sign says, "do you want this octopus to have fewer legs?" and people can remove a strip that says "yes." One person stuck a piece of tape to the octopus that says "no." They clearly want the poor octopus to have more legs. Now, it has four tentacles, but it likely won't last.
Minions Wanted
This unusual job poster was supposedly posted by an evil genius. He requests minions for a "world domination attempt." The minions would work all the time for little to no pay, but they would get "costumes and laser death rays." Is it worth it? Maybe for the laser death rays.
The funniest part of this poster is that it says, "NO weirdos." The evil genius is clearly the weirdo for posting the job number 1-800-MWA-HAHA. No one knows if this "fascist psychopath" received his minions.
Don't Flush Your Ex's Sweater
You may have seen those "don't flush" signs that advise people to avoid flushing paper towels and napkins. But this sign takes it several steps further. Along with gum and sanitary towels, the poster warns against flushing "old phones, unpaid bills, junk mail, your ex's sweater, hopes, dreams, or goldfish."
Anyone who was hoping to dispose of their goldfish or junk mail in a public restroom must have disappointed. Where else can we flush our hopes and dreams? In our own toilets? Or will that clog the piping?
Work Drama
In 2014, a reddit user posted this exchange from their work. Someone wrote on a whiteboard, asking others to return the purple marker. Then, the person who has the purple marker jotted "NO!!!!" in purple.
Unfortunately, the user never posted an update. Did the owner of the purple marker ever give it back? How long did the workplace struggle for that marker? It's clearly better than the orange marker. In terms of work drama, this is by far the most entertaining. Write on more whiteboards, please.
Hide Your Potato
This was supposed to be a regular sign encouraging people to wash their hands. But someone saw it and didn't see soap in the illustration. They wrote "hide your potato" on the poster, permanently changing everyone's view of the art.
Didn't you know that it's rude to flaunt your potato in public? Especially in a restroom. If you want to carry around a potato, don't rub it in between your palms. The sign clearly states that you cannot hold a potato, even while washing your hands.
A Graphic Designer Would Have Made A Better Sign
Job advertisements often include colors and designs to catch peoples' eyes. Unfortunately, this company doesn't have a graphic designer. They posted a plain, black-and-white job listing that says, "we need a graphic designer. Obviously."
This is perhaps that most genius graphic designer job posting. Anyone who can make a better poster will apply. However, it seems that the business is incredibly desparate for a designer. They didn't include a phone number or email, but this may have been posted outside of the company building.
Don't Step Into An Elevator Shaft
A redditor's brother lived in a "dodgy apartment" in Utah. This sign was next to the elevator in the apartment complex. At first glance, telling people to make sure the elevator is there before walking in seems like common sense. Then again, many people might be distracted when the elevator dings.
Commenters theorized that the elevator may have been too slow. The doors could open, and the machine could ding, but the elevator might not be there yet. At that point, we would just take the stairs.
The Culprit Is Revealed
Someone hung up a cardboard sign asking who took her X-acto knife. She was clearly struggling, as the cardboard seems unevenly shredded in many places. Then, someone replied with cleanly-cut cardboard, "it was me."
If you look closely, the original sign-maker replied again. She draw an arrow to the X-acto sign and wrote, "who X-actly?" We will never know if she got her X-acto knife back. But both of these sign-makers have a sense of humor; the posters went viral on reddit.
Choose Your Own Adventure
Does anyone remember The Oregon Trail? It was a 1985 video game that provided text prompts and players chose how to react to certain situations. This street sign in Los Angeles is modeled after The Oregon Trail.
The poster offers numbered actions, such as "look both ways and cross with caution" and "run blindly into traffic." People at the crosswalk can choose a number and see the result. This person chose "run blindly into traffic," and his result was "you have died of dysentery." Bummer.
A Dinosaur-Free Office
This office prides itself on being a dinosaur-free workplace. The sign claims that it has been 71 million years since the last velociraptor attack. Impressive! But they don't mention any other dinosaurs. What about T-rex attacks? Are those allowed in the workplace?
Jokes aside, this sign has gone viral after people messed with it. Some people erased the 25 million days, and placed a sticky note that said "six days." Others shred the sign and put red ink on it to make it look like a velociraptor attack.
They're Everywhere!
Usually, when people see a poster that says "Have you seen this bird?" they assume that the bird has gone missing. That is how most lost posters are formatted. But this sign has a twist. It says, "Have you seen this bird? Because they are everywhere."
Many American cities are swarmed with pigeons. Even tourists know how common they are. If you have seen a pigeon (which is highly likely), you can take a piece of paper that says, "My god, you're right!" Perhaps this poster is a case study about how many people notice pigeons.
Did You Notice?
Notice signs are meant to warn people about something that is not hazardous but worth paying attention to. But this sign just wants you to notice it. To push that point, it says "notice" five times throughout the sign.
"Thank you for noticing this new notice. Your noticing it has been noted." In fine print, the sign says, "and will be reported to the authorities." That's vaguely threatening. On the plus sign, if a passerby noticed the sign, they likely did something right. The authorities will be proud.
