Things People Found While Doing Some Quarantine Cleaning
Spring cleaning is one of those things that we all know we have to do once a year, but none of us really look forward to it. Except this year, we don't really have many options for what else to do with our time, so why not get to those chores you've been putting off?
These people did, and they found some pretty amazing things in the process.
What A Piece Of History
This newspaper is from the day of Queen Elizabeth's coronation. It does and doesn't seem like something that happened a long time ago.
It's one of those moments in history that we're still in.
That's Quite The Collection
Who else had a whole huge collection of cell phones like this?
It's absolutely wild to think that at one time, we didn't have the smartphones we have now, and texts used to cost 10 cents.
Wow, So Flashy
While this person was cleaning, they found a pair of jeans they decorated when they were young to look like the cover of their favorite Joni Mitchell album.
They're actually pretty good.
Has Anyone Seen These Before?
Whoever stumbled upon these in their cleaning is so lucky! Imagine the possibilities with a waterproof set of Uno cards.
There is now literally nowhere that you can't kick butt and take names.
That's One Old Game
Speaking of cool games...this Monopoly set is from 1925!
It's wild to think that the game has been around that long, creating life-long family feuds since day one, there's no doubt.
Are These Antiques Now?
Little did we all know, back in the Blockbuster days, that many of us were living out what would turn into some of our fondest memories.
RIP Blockbuster, you were a real one.
Talk About A Blast From The Past
An iPod Nano, an iPod Shuffle, and a Game Boy Advance?
This person must have been the coolest kid in school, because these all came out when it was rare to have cool tech like that.
The 'Save' Button
This person found a whole stack of floppy disks and has nowhere to check what's still on them!
There is a whole generation of kids out there who don't even know what they are.
Isn't That Fancy
It's great when you come across something that you might not be too familiar with, like this person who found their grandfather's old straight razor kit.
Be careful with those, though!
Cue The Crying
These people found some beautiful old love letters that were written by their parents to one another back before we had smartphones.
Anyone else feeling nostalgic for the older ways of life yet?
What Even Is This Thing?
Turns out that this old beauty is a calculator that was used by this person's great-great-grandma. It still has the instructions with it and everything!
Have the times ever changed.
Not Sure What To Make Of This
This is some kind of weird Shrek-inspired face mask that I'm guessing turned you a very specific shade of green.
Let's hope that it isn't swamp-scented, because that would be a no-go.
Anyone Else Find These Mildly Terrifying?
These great-looking vintage comic books are actually very strong in their Christian message.
And while there is nothing wrong with that, they could have been a little less heavy-handed.
Let's Hope It Still Works
Games have advanced so much these days, but nothing will compare to those original games that we all grew up loving.
Who else remembers blowing on them when they didn't work right?
What A Masterpiece
It's hard to know where this came from, or why this person's grandparents had it.
But what we do know is that when this person fixes it up, it's going to be a great conversation starter.
Well, This Is A New One
This person did a deep dive into their cabinets and storage and found this gem.
It's a can of dehydrated broccoli that their parents stocked up on during the Y2K scare, which was 20 years ago.
What A Find
This guy was helping his grandparents clean out their attic and stumbled across what, you ask?
Oh, just a silver bar that's worth somewhere in the ballpark of $1,600. Nothing wrong with that.
This Is So Beautiful
Even though it looks like the filament that's flower-shaped, it's actually a tiny neon lamp inside where the electrodes are shaped like flowers.
Either way, it makes for an amazing lightbulb.
Some Old-School Stuff There
This was found in their family's basement storage, and it belonged to their grandmother who worked as a nurse.
It's an old nursing travel kit, complete with the tiny vial of medical cocaine.
They're Nearly Perfect
These nearly perfect cans were found in the attic and were left by whoever lived in the house prior to the current owners.
It makes you wonder if they were saving them for something.
Someone Loved Photography
This stash of old cameras probably took pictures of tons of memories that are still cherished to this day.
I'm also willing to bet this person is a big fan of their Instagram account these days.
Another Throwback
Remember when Netflix wasn't a streaming service, but was instead a service that mailed you movies and then you mailed them back?
Man, have we come a long way from that.
Talk About An Old Televison
They found this in their grandparents' attic. They never got rid of it because it still worked, and they just wanted to upgrade.
What a neat feat it would be to get that up and running.
Did Anyone Else Have Neopets?
Remember when you had to print out this consent form and get it signed by your parents so you could play Neopets online?
The thing was like five pages long!
A Ticket Back In Time
This old train ticket is from 1890, believe it or not.
It's always so crazy how well some things stay preserved over time when they're forgotten about somewhere safe and clean.
That's A Lot Of Keys
So, apparently, all the keys in this tray are keys to different doors and locks around the same house!
Can you imagine getting the locks changed that many times? It must be one old house with a lock on every door.
This Is Sort Of Strange Looking
This is actually a Victorian aide-memoire notebook.
Victorian women would keep them in their pockets or on a chain and make notes about upcoming appointments that week with graphite pencils which would rub off the ivory when they were done.
Those Are Some Cool Buttons
These belonged to someone who was a pioneer, laying the groundwork for all the cool tech and gadgets that we have today.
Those buttons will be a cool collectors item someday.
That's A Lot Of Minutes
Stashed at the back of their desk, this person found an iPad that doesn't know what day it is and is disabled until like 2066.
Let's hope there is a way to bypass that.
What A Weird Looking Guitar
This is actually an old Gibson that was probably made sometime between 1903 and 1933.
It doesn't have any strings left, but it's no wonder. That thing has been around for a long time.
